City Expands AWRF From 3 MGD To 8 MGD
The Mayor and Council recently awarded the bid for the construction of the City’s proposed 8 MGD (Million Gallons Per Day) Advanced Water Reclamation Facility (AWRF) expansion project to Atlantic Skanska - log onto http://www.skanska.com
Four companies submitted bids and they are as follows:
Atlantic Skanska, Inc.’s - $30,050,000.00
Pizzagalli Construction Company - $30,469,000.00
Archer Western Contractors, Ltd. - $32,050,000.00
Crowder Construction Company - $32,793,000.00

Currently, the City is permitted to discharge up to 3 MGD into Big Creek, a tributary of the Chattahoochee River. The City will be permitted to discharge up to 8 MGD into Big Creek once the addition to the facility has been completed.
The City expects the construction project to take up to 26 months with a Notice to Proceed date of July 1, 2006 and a completion date of September 2008.
